Service Learning
BSW students engage in service learning in an agency in the community in the course Generalist Social Work Practice. Through service learning, students understand the importance of civic engagement and integrate experiential and classroom learning.
Requirements for students
- 30 hours of required service learning in SW 312: Generalist Social Work Practice
- Arrange service learning placement with agency
- Set student learning objectives and goals with agency representative
- Record service hours through GivePulse platform
- Reflect on experience alongside course content
Requirements for agencies
- Provide student supervision and training
- Provide a student experience that
- Complements curriculum and deepens learning
