The School of Social Work’s Child & Family Research Institute held its first annual Teen Conference at The University of Texas at Austin on April 23, 2016.

The conference was open to foster youth interested in learning more about college and what “Gone to Texas” actually means. More than 35 foster youth with their foster parents and other supporters were in attendance. Read more about the conference.

The Teen Conference is one of the initiatives under SPARK, a new program aimed at increasing the number of former foster youth graduating from The University of Texas at Austin. In partnership with Horns Helping Horns, SPARK is creating a campus-wide network of support to assist students who grew up in the foster care system achieve educational success and graduation.
