Our trained peer mentors are leaders dedicated to supporting student success and resources, inspiring confidence in academic and career aspirations, and building a strong community for first-year BSW students.

Eligibility & Qualifications
To apply for a position as SWEEP Mentor, students must meet the following qualifications:
- Full time enrollment during the semester of SWEEP Mentorship
- Successful completion or current enrollment in S W 312 at time of application
- In-residence, 3.7 GPA within Social Work at time of application

Advantages of SWEEP Mentorship
- Leadership experience working within a select team of trained fellow SWEEP mentors to:
- plan BSW program activities and events, working closely with the BSW Team.
- be a primary resource to SWEEP Mentees by navigating potential challenges and referring them to the appropriate campus resources when applicable.
- intentionally develop and execute collaborative student engagement strategies and assess mentee needs and challenges with your SWEEP Mentor team.
- Completion of specifically tailored trainings and workshops for student leaders in peer mentorship groups, such as:
- Texas LEAD Workshops
- DiNitto Center Professional Workshops
- Opportunities to engage in public speaking, recruit prospective students, and interact with local and regional communities

Responsibilities & Commitments
- Attend routine team meetings for planning program activities and events
- Proactive, regular contact with mentees through both individual and group communication and activities
- Provide timely updates to BSW Advising Staff on cohort status and progress
SWEEP Mentor Mandatory Events
- In-person SWEEP Mentor Training & Workshop during Summer semester prior to start of SWEEP Mentorship in the Fall semester
