The University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work welcomed students, faculty and staff to Walter Webb Hall for Gone To Social Work 2025, launching both the fall semester and the School’s milestone 75th year.
Travis Foster, artist in residence at UT Social Work, provided live music as more than 100 community members gathered around the fireplace for tacos and birthday cake before heading to the Gone To Texas rally at the UT Tower.
Dean Allan Cole welcomed the incoming class — the most competitive in school history — to “the journey of a lifetime,” as he encouraged students to remain curious, collaborative and connected throughout their academic journey.
“If you do your job, we will learn from you,” said Dean Cole. “And if we do our job, you’ll learn from us.”
Additional celebrations to recognize 75 years of social work education are to come.
