Laurianne Rodriguez, program manager for the Veteran Spouse Network (VSN) at The University of Texas at Austin, was honored this past Saturday as the Honorary Veteran during the Texas Longhorns football game against UTEP.

Rodriguez, who served as an Air Force captain and personnel officer, supported her family through 20 years of military life. She now leads national programming and peer support for military and veteran spouses through the VSN, which part of UT’s Institute for Military and Veteran Family Wellness at UT Social Work. A lifelong advocate, Rodriguez brings her personal and professional experience to her work, helping others navigate the challenges of military family life. In 2023, she was awarded the Yellow Rose of Texas in recognition of her service across the state.

The Veteran Spouse Network provides a variety of effective peer support programs designed for military and veteran spouses/partners as they navigate the challenges of active-duty life, the transition from military to civilian life, and put down roots post-military transition. These peer-based support programs offer educational, social, and referral support tailored to the needs of military and veteran spouses/partners to facilitate spouse, veteran, and family well-being.
