UT Social Work is actively recruiting licensed clinical social work supervisors to join a groundbreaking initiative that’s removing financial barriers for the next generation of Texas mental health professionals.

Program details

The newly launched Post-Graduate Clinical Scholarship program provides comprehensive support for 27 recent graduates pursuing their Licensed Clinical Social Worker credentials. Selected supervisors will conduct virtual group supervision for six to nine scholarship recipients, providing 100 hours of supervision over two years with $4,383 compensation and flexible scheduling designed to complement existing practices.

This is an opportunity for experienced professionals to make a direct impact on Texas’s mental health workforce capacity while addressing the supervision shortage that limits LCSW advancement across the state.

Addressing workforce needs

The initiative directly addresses findings from the 2024 Texas Social Work Workforce Study, which identified supervision costs — typically $3,600 out-of-pocket — as a major barrier preventing qualified graduates from advancing to full licensure. At UT Social Work, 84% of students pursue the clinical concentration with intentions of becoming LCSWs, but many cite cost as a significant challenge.

Requirements include:

  • Board-approved LCSW supervisor status in Texas
  • Two-year commitment with virtual supervision sessions conducted via Zoom
