More than 60 faculty, staff and researchers from the Steve Hicks School of Social Work attended the Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) 2025 Annual Conference in Seattle last week, with the majority of attendees presenting research.

The conference, themed “Strengthening Social Impact through Collaborative Research,” convened researchers, faculty and leaders from social work institutions and organizations from across the country. Several of those researchers will be presenting at the Spring 2025 Research Showcase at Walter Webb Hall on Thursday, January 23.

Notably, 18 doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows from Texas Social Work also presented on topics that included children experiencing homelessness, immigrant health and mental health, preventing alcohol-exposed pregnancy, youth mental health in rural Mexico, and disparities in telehealth use.

In addition to presenting at the conference, Texas Social Work hosted a reception at Wild Ginger Seattle to welcome alumni from Texas Social Work, as well as colleagues, researchers and deans from several schools of social work.

As a gold-level sponsor of SSWR, Texas Social Work is proud to work with the premiere conference for social work research in fostering discussion between scholars, educators, organizers and practitioners on current topics.
