In support of the new partnership with the Steve Hicks School of Social Work (SHS) and the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health, Stacey Jordan will be assuming additional responsibilities as the Assistant Vice President for Interdepartmental Affairs at the Hogg Foundation, effective November 1, 2024.
In this role, Jordan will lead efforts to ensure alignment and integration of the Hogg Foundation and SHS’s projects, work, and mission. She will also continue serving SHS as assistant dean for administration & planning, chief of staff, and a clinical assistant professor.
At SHS, Jordan oversees the School’s strategy, policy, and daily operations in the Office of the Dean. She also serves as a practicum faculty liaison for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Geneva, Switzerland, and as a faculty affiliate with the Rapoport Center for Human Rights and Justice.
Before joining SHS, Jordan served as a senior leader within educational research organizations and think tanks, such as the Education Sector, American Institutes for Research (AIR), and CNA, where she managed an Institute for Education Sciences and a Regional Educational Lab, with a focus on clarifying connections between research and practice for stakeholders and educators.
Her experience in policy leadership positions includes serving as deputy assistant secretary for intergovernmental affairs for the U.S. Department of Education, where she oversaw policy implementation at local, county, tribal, and state levels; director for the New York City Fund for Public Schools; and special assistant and education liaison for the City of Providence, Rhode Island.
She holds an MSSW from the University of Texas at Austin and a B.A. in philosophy from Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. She currently serves on the Advisory Board of Helping Hand Home, a residential childcare agency in Travis County, and Headwaters School, an independent early childhood through 12th-grade school with a Montessori Foundation.
