Funded by a three-year SAMHSA cooperative agreement awarded to the Texas Dept. of State Health Services (DSHS), this project is aimed at improving access to mental health services and reducing suicides among youth, ages 10 to 24, at risk of suicide. The  project will focus on enhancements to the Texas public mental health system to improve service delivery for children, youth, and young adults with serious emotional disturbances or severe or persistent mental illness. Dr. Molly Lopez and her team at the Texas Institute for Excellence in Mental Health will collaborate with DSHS on project implementation and evaluation. The Institute will provide staffing for program evaluation and reporting, as well as community and state implementation support.
