The Texas Center for Disability Studies has been renewed for five more years as a University Center of Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). TCDS is a part of the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin. The five-years of funding will allow TCDS to enhance education, health, employment, and community living for individuals with disabilities. Aiming to train over 200 preservice professionals and serve over 25,000 people with disabilities, TCDS’s comprehensive approach includes interdisciplinary training, community service projects, research, and widespread information dissemination. They will utilize diverse methods such as community trainings, development of curricula, research, and maintaining an active online presence to achieve these goals. This initiative represents a concerted effort to advance the field of developmental disabilities and promote inclusive community practices.
