This Smart & Connected Communities project addresses the need to enhance community resilience, particularly among vulnerable populations, in the face of extreme weather events and chronic stressors. Partnering with the Dove Springs community in Central Texas, which faces recurring severe flooding, the project will create a secure online platform for residents to share their local knowledge. This knowledge will be integrated with existing large-scale datasets, aiding in resilience planning. The project’s outcomes include innovative interfaces, data collection systems, knowledge management frameworks, and participatory processes, empowering residents to prepare for challenges and inform local and regional policies. The project’s broader impacts include improved decision-making, knowledge sharing with other communities, community empowerment through Climate Navigators, and enhanced modeling for resilience and preparedness efforts across the state, contributing to national well-being.
