This project investigates the impact of the Solution-focused Intervention for Mental health (SIM) program on mental well-being among Swedish upper secondary students. Preliminary results from a feasibility study during 2021 show a statistically significant increase in mental well-being after the intervention and this project aims to continue the evaluation. This evaluation aims to determine if SIM enhances mental well-being, prevents mental health issues, and assesses its cost-effectiveness compared to standard school provisions. The study employs a randomized controlled trial to evaluate the intervention’s success and employs validated instruments for measurement. Its societal relevance is underscored by evidence suggesting that high levels of well-being are predictive of fewer mental health issues and have positive societal impacts. This project will contribute to new knowledge in the field by evaluating a new universal intervention for the school to use in its promotional work.
