The purpose of this project is to design and implement a statewide initiative focused on reducing and preventing justice-involvement for people with mental illnesses (MI), substance use disorders (SUD), and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and improving statewide coordination of forensic services. The project team will develop a technical assistance initiative in the topical areas of diversion, crisis response, juvenile justice, competency restoration, local behavioral health and justice coordination, continuity of care and reentry, and/or law enforcement responses to people with MI, SUD, and IDD. The initiative may include, but is not limited to learning collaboratives, program evaluation or assessments, surveys, or curriculum development. Additionally, the project team will design and develop educational and informational areas in topic areas and will maintain the Texas Behavioral Health and Justice Technical Assistance Center website.
