The “Children with Special Health Care Needs Technical Assistance Capacity Building” project, led by the Texas Institute for Child and Family Wellbeing and the Texas Center for Disability Studies, focuses on identifying and assisting Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) in Texas to increase their capacity to provide family support and resources for children with special healthcare needs. Over the three-year project period, emphasis will be placed on identifying and supporting regions with the most need for capacity building, and in identifying and advocating for specific populations experiencing health disparities, included CYSHCN in rural areas, immigrants, and ethnic and racial minorities. Specific training needs will be identified for each Public Health Service Region, and training and technical assistance will be developed and delivered to address targeted needs.
