The Moritz Center for Societal Impact (MCSI) is now accepting proposals for the 2025 Projects for Societal Impact (PSI). These projects typically include collaboration with community partners, including government agencies, nonprofit organizations, or for-profit businesses that help address societal challenges. The MCSI is interested in research that addresses intersecting focus areas that include:
- Housing
- Behavioral health
- Children and families
- Aging
- Disabilities
- Ethics
- Digital health applications
- Global health and technology
- Arts and humanities
Projects may include new research or application of previous research findings, and focus on replication, implementation, or dissemination with community partners.
Past recipients included projects to improve mental health literacy; improve response to the overdose crisis in Brittany, France; improve the sustainability of substance use recovery housing; enhance parental mental health and children’s outcomes in high poverty areas of Mexico; contribute to research on health interventions for autistic adults; and study of homelessness among youth in Travis County.
Important dates
Applications are due before midnight on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, for projects to be implemented May through December 2025. Grants in amounts up to $50,000 will be awarded in April 2025.
Who’s eligible
UT-Austin PI-eligible researchers, including all faculty and research staff, from any college, school, or unit (CSU) can apply. Inclusion of community partners and UT-Austin students in the project is strongly encouraged.

The Moritz Center for Societal Impact was founded in 2022 to support interdisciplinary work among researchers, students, and community partners to facilitate new research and collaboration that furthers knowledge and solutions for health and wellness in community members.
