Dr. Rebecca Gomez, associate dean for academic affairs, announced that Dr. Fiona Conway will serve in the position of director of adjunct faculty affairs. In this role, Dr. Conway will be responsible for supporting adjunct faculty and professors of instruction. She will collaborate closely with our program deans and Andrea Montgomery, director of academic initiatives, to expand and enhance the resources available to adjunct colleagues within Texas Social Work.

Dr. Conway joined the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin in 2018 as an assistant professor, and has served as associate director of research at the Addiction Research Institute since 2022. In recognition of her excellence in teaching, she received the Lora Lee Pederson Teaching Excellence Award from the Steve Hicks School in 2020.

“I am truly honored to have the opportunity to support our adjunct faculty and professors of instruction in this role,” said Dr. Conway. “My four years as an adjunct faculty member at Rutgers University during my doctoral program and postdoctoral fellowship were profoundly meaningful. They shaped my pedagogical approach and deepened my appreciation for the vital role adjunct faculty play in academia. It is a privilege to give back and serve the school in this capacity.”
