Dr. Namkee G. Choi, Professor and Louis & Ann Wolens Centennial Chair in Gerontology at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work, was listed as one of the world’s top social work researchers focused on gerontology, earning the No. 2 global ranking by the Journal of Gerontological Social Work.
The rankings came in a recently published article entitled “The 100 Leading Contributors to English-Language Gerontological Journals: An International Study of Scholarly Impact,” and the selection was based on a composite measure of scholarly impact that controls for self-citations and author order while also calculating other bibliometric statistics.
“The Steve Hicks School of Social Work is made better because of the top-notch work Dr. Choi does in social work and gerontology,” said Dr. Allan Cole, Dean of SHS. “Her influence in the sphere of mental health, especially in aging and the treatment of depression, is a model for faculty members worldwide. We are fortunate to have her at SHS leading the next generation of social workers and scholars in life-changing research.”
