Born and raised in Houston, TX, Patrick Lloyd, LMSW is a justice driven social worker. After spending several years as a school social worker and in child welfare, in 2016 Patrick became the first ever public library social worker in Texas. Patrick has served as a founding member and former co-chair of the Public Library Association’s Social Worker Task Force. He is passionate about bringing trauma-informed and antiracist practices to public institutions, especially libraries. Patrick has presented on related topics across the United States and in Australia. He first became an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the SHSSW in 2021 and was appointed as full-time faculty in 2022.
Patrick’s areas of interest include generalist practice, advocacy, library social work, radical social work, and the trauma-informed lens. He enjoys cooking, fishing, and spending time with his grumpy beagle, Coach.
