Octavious Bishop is a dynamic speaker and communicator. His life’s journey and experiences have traveled the path from wounds, to scars, to beauty marks. Dr. Bishop started high school on a third-grade reading level, and his odds of even finishing high school seemed to be doubtful. It was a short meeting with the legendary Emory Bellard (Inventor of the wishbone offense) that changed the direction of his life. Dr. Bishop is forever grateful to Coach Bellard, his amazing staff, counselors, faculty, and classmates at Westfield High School in the Houston, Texas, area.
Octavious received a football scholarship, where he became a Big 12 All-Conference three-year starter at left tackle on an offensive line that helped 1998 Heisman Trophy winner, Ricky Williams break the all-time college rushing record. He was blessed to play professionally for a short while with the Atlanta Falcons, Oakland Raiders, NFL-Europe’s Amsterdam Admirals, and XFL Chicago Enforcers. After his athletic career, he earned a BSW, MSSW, and Ph.D. in Psychology.
Today, Dr. Bishop is a faculty member at The University of Texas at Austin in the Steve Hicks School of Social Work. He is also on faculty at Austin Community College where he teaches multiple psychology courses. Octavious is the founder and president of Eye Level Consulting, where he strives to support companies, organizations, colleges, and sports teams at every level to define leadership and mentorship by sharing his experience of the locker rooms he has been privileged to be part of throughout his career.
