Marissa Engel, LCSW is the sole proprietor and owner of Help Your Mind Psychotherapy. She works primarily with older teens and adults struggling with C-PTSD, dissociation, and personality disorders. She also enjoys working with couples, working with them to find their way through the storms of relationships to having healthier communication and connection. Though she has specialized in trauma and couples, she has also worked with violent and sexual offenders in her time as a therapist.

Marissa has over 20 years of experience working in both agency and private practice mental health counseling. She is extensively trained in EMDR and DBT, as well as dissociation parts work. She is a therapy magpie, and her next learning goal is to become certified in PACT. She has written trainings in understanding and diagnosing Borderline Personality Disorder. She has also undertaken the task of making ethics interesting and fun, writing an Ethics training for advanced practitioners.

Marissa earned a Bachelor of Science in Social work from Texas State University, and a Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin. She is currently a Board member of the Steve Hicks School of Social Work Alumni Network (SWAN) where she hopes to continue uniting Social Workers into a Force for the community.
