Kate Mahoney-McGuire graduated from Baylor University in 2016 with a BA in New Media Journalism and a minor in Sociology. After graduation she moved to Austin to pursue a career as a Graphic Designer for Gatehouse Media, designing magazines and newspapers across the country. In 2017, she began working as a Digital Media Specialist for a tech startup until she had a life-changing event that helped her refocus her career and she began working as the Yearbook, Advanced Graphic Design, and Ezine (magazine publishing) teacher at the Liberal Arts Science Academy in fall 2018.

After four years as a journalism teacher, she joined the Addiction Research Institute in January 2023 as Communications and Marketing Manager focusing on developing a web and social media presence for ARI and its programs.
