J.D. Moore is the director of marketing & communications for Texas Social Work, where he oversees the internal and external marketing efforts for the school. He provides strategy and leadership for communications; manages special projects such as Texas Social Work’s annual report, The Utopian magazine and Discourse podcast; and plans and executes events and reputation management efforts.
Prior to his work at The University of Texas at Austin, J.D. worked in economic development and corporate communications. He also previously served as a journalist for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, WFAA, the Kerrville Daily Times, and Sirius XM, among others.
J.D. is proud to be a first-generation college graduate, earning his bachelor’s in journalism from TCU and his master’s in public administration from Texas State University. He is both an avid traveler and college football expert, having traveled extensively to all 50 states and attending hundreds of college football games as credentialed media. Born and raised in Hawaii, J.D. became a converted Texan in 2008, where he later married his college sweetheart (a fourth generation Texan) and began raising their fifth generation Texan in Austin.
