Hilda Torres, LMSW is a Research Program Coordinator at The Texas Center for Disability Studies (TCDS) where she supports the Texas-Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (TX-ADDM) Network. TX-ADDM is a public health surveillance project funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that is looking to find the number and characteristics of children with autism in Bexar County. Hilda is motivated to use data to advocate for resources and services for families of children with autism. She is passionate about mental health access in vulnerable populations and has been working in the research field for over five years. In her previous roles, she primarily worked with immigrant and Spanish speaking communities through brief therapeutic interventions in healthcare and educational settings.
