Relationships matter to Denise, and her life is built around them. She dearly loves her family, friends, church, and city. She and her husband, Ray, have been married 47 years and they adore their four children, two sons-in-law, two daughters-in-law, and fourteen grandchildren. Denise has a deep passion for people and relationships and spent over 30 years volunteering and serving on non-profit boards that dealt with justice, poverty, family, addiction, education, and healthcare. She served as Chairman of the Board of Serve West Dallas, a collaboration of non-profit organizations and churches who work with the community to deal with issues encountered in lower economic neighborhoods. As an active member of Park Cities Presbyterian Church for 20 years she served on the Women’s Ministry team and Urban Missions boards. Denise also dedicated her time and energy on the boards of the Global Leadership Alliance, CARE (Chemical Awareness Resource Education), Young Life, ACT ( Advocated for Community Transformation) and the YMCA. She and Ray have taken mission trips around the world including India, Africa, Ecuador, Cuba and the Dominican Republic. Her heart for the poor developed from her work as a social worker upon graduation from The University of Texas at Austin where she studied psychology and social work.
