Dante Vargas is the Senior Program Coordinator of Recruitment and Community Engagement at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work (SHS). In this role, Dante leads efforts related to recruitment and admissions outreach, as well as event planning, for the Master of Science in Social Work Program (MSSW).
Dante serves as the primary liaison between SHS and prospective graduate students before an application has been submitted. He also assists with the development of the annual recruitment plan, works at conferences and recruitment events to engage with prospective students, and handles events designed to help prospective students in applying to SHS.
Dante also coordinates the St. David’s Foundation Bilingual Social Work Scholars Program, including maintaining responsibility for the application process and communication with admitted students, conducting interviews, selecting recipients, and maintaining data for reporting to the Foundation.
Dante is a proud graduate of SHS, earning his BSW in 2017. Prior to working at SHS, Dante was working in direct client services at Project Transitions, a non-profit organization that works with low income and unhoused individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
