Danielle Redhead attained her Bachelor of Social Work degree from the Steve Hicks School of Social Work (SHSSW) in 2019. During her undergraduate career, Danielle founded the SHSSW student organization POCKET (People of Color Keeping Everyone Tight).  POCKET is a safe space for people of color in the Steve Hicks School of Social Work that promotes diversity and confidence in marginalized identities. Danielle served as a School of Social Work Representative in Student Government. She collaborated on initiatives for campus climate including: resolving transportation issues for students in Riverside and establishing the First-Generation Graduation Recognition Ceremony at UT.

Danielle was a Discovery Scholar, Interprofessional Education Scholar, Undergraduate Studies Alumni Guide, SHSSW Dean’s Ambassador, and recipient of the Social Work Endowed Presidential Scholarship. Additionally, she is a member of the Friar Society, the oldest honor society at the University of Texas at Austin.

Currently, Danielle works as a Youth Engagement Counselor at UT Youth Engagement Houston. UT Youth Engagement Houston is a college readiness program that provides students with valuable tools, resources and experiences throughout their high school career. Danielle is passionate about empowering individuals and reducing systemic inequities.
