Dr. Anita L. Swanson, MT-BC is the Project Manager at Texas Technology Access Program at the University of Texas at Austin. She brings experience as a practitioner and professor of music therapy. Dr. Swanson has served diverse clientele, utilizing assistive technology with individuals on the autism spectrum, persons with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and adults with neurological challenges. Dr. Swanson’s research studies stem from her practice and service work. Thus, her research interests include communication (including Augmentative and Alternative Communication), interprofessional education and training, and music therapy and its development in different cultures. Dr. Swanson has published in several journals and frequently presents across the US and internationally. Her book Treatment Planning for Music Therapy Cases is available from Sarsen Publishing. Currently, she is serving as Past President of the World Federation of Music Therapy.
