Andy was born and raised in the south Texas town of Carrizo Springs before attending The University of Texas at Austin. After transferring to The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., Andy received a BA in International Affairs in 1974, followed by a Juris Doctor from Southern Methodist University. Andy has been in private law practice since 1977, and in his own firm since 1987, now Johnson Petrov LLP, specializing in public law, finance, and development. Andy has been married to Debbie for a short 41 years. The couple has three grown children and one grandchild so far. Currently, Andy serves on the Bishop’s Committee of Lord of the Streets Episcopal Church, a homeless day shelter in midtown Houston. Andy also is a co-founder of Hope Center Houston, a homeless day center she established in north Houston. At the University, Andy serves on the Chancellor’s Council Executive Committee, and is a part of the Ashbel Smith Circle, 1881 Society, Littlefield House, and is a Lifetime Texas Ex and Longhorn Foundation member. More recently, Andy has joined joins Debbie on the Advisory Council for the Steve Hicks School of Social Work.
