Anao Zhang, PhD, LCSW, is currently an Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of Michigan School of Social Work, where he also serves as the associate director of training at Curtis Center for Health Equity Intervention Research, Training, and Innovation, and the Clinical Research Director at the Michigan Medicine Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Program. Dr. Zhang is a psycho-oncologist with a primary research interest in advancing supportive and survivorship care for adolescents and young adults (AYAs) living with a cancer diagnosis. A certified oncology social worker, Dr. Zhang’s work critically attends to health equity for the AYA cancer population, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds. Zhang completed his PhD in Social Work from the Steve Hicks School of Social Work (SHS, 2014~2018) with a Certification in the Graduate Portfolio Program in Applied Statistical Modeling. Dr. Zhang is passionate about supporting doctoral education in social work at SHS and engaging graduates from the doctoral program.
