BSW student Qusay Hussein was featured in this article in The Guardian about people who are given a second chance after an incident changes their lives forever.

Hussein was born in Mosul, Iraq. In 2006, when he was 17 years old, he suffered serious injuries from a suicide bombing. He lost half of his face and his vision. Hussein came to the United States as a medical refugee through Doctors without Borders. He graduated from Austin Community College in 2018  and is now an undergraduate majoring in social work and psychology at The University of Texas at Austin.
