AUSTIN, Texas –Dr. Barbara Jones, a member of the School of Social Work faculty at The University of Texas at Austin, has won an International Palliative Care Network Poster Exhibition 2011 Award.

Jones is an associate professor and co-director of the Institute for Grief, Loss, and Family Survival in the School of Social Work. She is also a clinical assistant professor of pediatrics, University of Texas Medical Branch -School of Medicine.
Jones is committed to improving the quality of life of children with cancer and their families through community-based practice research and advocacy. She consults and lectures nationally on issues of pediatric palliative care, grief and loss, and the role of social work in health care.
Jones has served as president of the Association of Pediatric Oncology Social Workers (APOSW) and as a Steering Committee member of the Network of Social Workers in Palliative and End-of-Life Care. Prior to joining the School of Social Work faculty in 2004, Jones was the director of pediatric programs at the Center for Advanced Illness Coordinated Care and a clinical faculty member and senior clinical social worker at Albany Medical Center Children’s Cancer Center, New York.
