Nina Flores received her PhD in Environmental Health Sciences from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. There she focused on the intersection of environmental justice, health disparities, and climate change. Her dissertation, “Mold in a Changing Climate— Implications for Fungal Exposures and Asthma Morbidity in New York City Public Housing,” examined the impact of the New York City Housing Authority’s 2019 mold intervention (Mold Busters) on asthma-related emergency department visits and explored climate change–related threats to the intervention’s progress. She received her BS in Computational Biology at the University of Texas at Austin and is excited to be back for postdoctoral work.

Nina is currently a postdoctoral fellow in the Promoting Equity in Cardiovascular and Respiratory Health training program, jointly based in the UT Austin School of Social Work and Dell Medical School. She is currently studying ambient heat and its effects on perinatal health outcomes.
