Christina Carney is a creative warrior with a passion for healing and liberation. She spent several years working in Syracuse, NY as an advocate for survivors of domestic and sexual violence before moving to Austin, TX in 2012. Christina became a Mental Health Peer Specialist in 2014, working at Austin State Hospital where she brought creative and trauma-focused peer programming. In 2017 she accepted a position with the non-profit organization Via Hope, coordinating a leadership program for people in recovery before becoming the Training and Curriculum Design Manager. In 2025 Christina moved to the Addiction Research Institute, in the School of Social Work at the University of Texas, as a full-time curriculum writer. She is also involved in the community as a performance artist, activist, volunteer and organizer.
