Mia Villarreal is the associate academic advisor for the BSW program in the School of Social Work. As an academic advisor, Mia collaborates with her team to help students cultivate a growth mindset, to pursue their academic and career goals, and to strengthen their professional skills throughout their time at UT Austin.

She earned her BA in English and art history, with a minor in museums and cultural heritage, from Rice University. Mia completed her MA in modern and contemporary art history at UT Austin.

Her graduate research explored how contemporary Latina/o artists use social media as a platform for art activism in the U.S. During her time at UT, Mia also served as a Teaching Assistant, an experience that fueled her passion for fostering student engagement through creative learning strategies.
