Catherine Cubbin, associate professor in the School of Social Worker, argues in a recent Huffington Post article that the looming Zika threat in the United States highlights the perennial crisis of low weight birth babies, especially for black mothers.

“Despite being world-class and first-rate in every way, for at least a century, the United States has been satisfied in accepting the fact that some newborn babies just won’t make it, especially black ones,” Cubbin writes.
