Can you provide more details about the Steve Hicks Graduation Recognition Moment?

Graduates and their guests are invited to participate in this in-person event. It will also be broadcast simultaneously via YouTube Live. (The livestream will be public, so a YouTube account is not required to watch. Please note it will not be made available for later viewing.)

Scheduling: Check-in starts in the school’s main foyer.

Check-in time: 8:15 a.m.

Students should plan to come wearing regalia, if using. If not wearing regalia, please dress business casual. You may want to avoid green and grey colors, as they will fade into the green screen that Flash Photography will be using for professional photos.

Upon arriving, students and their guests will come to school’s main foyer to check-in and enter the Utopia Theatre.

Professional photographers (Flash Photography) will take photos of graduates before the ceremony, so please arrive before check-in if you need additional time to get ready.

A reception will follow with coffee and pastries.

What safety protocols will be in place?

  • In accordance with the most recent university policy, face masks are optional inside university buildings and outdoors. For individuals who are not fully vaccinated or have weakened immune systems, masking is optional but highly recommended.
  • Graduates who are not already vaccinated are strongly encouraged to take advantage of UT’s Proactive Community Testing the days leading up to commencement.
  • Guests who are not already vaccinated are strongly encouraged to take advantage of free testing through their primary care physician or a community clinic before arriving on campus. 

How can my family, friends and supporters view the Graduation Recognition Moment?

Family and friends are invited to join us in the Utopia Theatre for the full ceremony. We will also be broadcasting the event live via YouTube. A YouTube account is NOT be required to watch.

Do I need to wear a cap and gown to participate in person?

You are welcome (and encouraged) to wear a cap and gown, but it is not required. Please note that the Steve Hicks School’s cap and gown loaning program is not available for this commencement cycle. Should you wish to purchase regalia, it can be purchased here.

How can photos of my moment be purchased?

Flash Photography is the university’s official photography partner and will take stage crossing and green screen photos of every graduate in attendance (green screen photos will be taken before the event begins, so please arrive on time). Photos will be accessible and may be purchased through them.
