Erin Spalding, program director at The Christi Center, is the recipient of the 2017 Field Instructor of the Year Award from the Steve Hicks School of Social Work.

“Erin Spalding has been a valued field instructor for our school since 2008. Over the past 10 years, she has provided field instruction for at least 30 Longhorn interns at all levels. She sets an ethical, caring and skilled example for our students and has been a dedicated team member in our field program. We are proud honor her with this year’s field instructor of the year award,” said Tanya Voss, assistant dean for field education.

Field instructors provide administrative and educational supervision for social work students during their internships in social service agencies and other institutions in the community. With this award, the Steve Hicks School of Social Work recognizes outstanding field instruction and long-term commitment to social work education. The recognition comes with a stipend supported by the Jane Addams Field Education Development Endowment.

Spalding received her master of social work from The University of Texas at Austin, and has been working at The Christi Center since 2008.
