Service Learning, Non-Profit Work, and AmeriCorps - A Discussion

July 9, 2021 @ 11:00 am 12:00 pm

Service learning is a vital part of the social work curriculum, giving you an opportunity to integrate what you learn in classes into real-world service. Especially for BSWs, service learning represents an excellent boost to your grad school application and an incredible professional development opportunity. For this workshop, we sit down with Jordan Stephens of Communities In Schools of Central Texas, and Jayme Poland of Front Steps. They work in non-profit settings and place students and alumni into service learning positions where they can make a difference, through AmeriCorps Central Texas. Jayme and Jordan will take this opportunity to discuss their work in the non-profit field, how you can get involved with Service Learning, and how AmeriCorps CTX can help you gain access to these opportunities. If you are going into Service Learning soon, or if you aren’t sure but want to, we strongly encourage you to join us and expand your knowledge and opportunities.
