Mentalization and reflective parenting

A free online training for professionals interested in learning how psychoanalytic concepts relates to working with children & families.

Mentalization develops within the context of a secure attachment relationship and is the skill of being able to see yourself from the outside and others from the inside. This session will examine this ability in more detail, including how it relates to healthy parenting and positive child outcomes.

Lunch & Learns are sponsored by the Sue Fairbanks Psychoanalytic Academy. These hour long sessions are meant to introduce psychoanalytic concepts to community practitioners, researchers, social workers and those in all helping professions. “Psychoanalysis” goes far beyond Freud and has been a valuable and important part of social work since the beginning.
