Career Exploration Workshop: Child protection

April 9, 2021 @ 1:30 pm 2:30 pm

Whether it’s due to abuse, neglect, or endangerment, there are many reasons social workers are needed in the field of child protection. If you’ve ever been curious about this vital and fulfilling field of work, join us in speaking with two veterans of child protection social work, Chris Johnson, LMSW, IPR, and Barbara Jefferson, LCSW-S. Chris is Director of the Child Welfare Education Collaboration, a scholarship program to help social workers get into Child Protective Services, and was employed at CPS herself for over two decades. Barbara was Chief Clinical Officer Emeritus with the Center for Child Protection (CCP) for 17 years, designing therapy programs for children and families who’d experienced abuse and neglect and training the Center’s clinicians. Together, the two can share a very wide variety of experiences in the child protection system, public and private non-profit. Come, ask questions, and learn more about this important field.
