Senior Administrative Program Coordinator
Michelle Monk is serving as the senior program coordinator for school-based mental health Initiatives within the newly created South Southwest Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (SSW-MHTTC), part of the Steve Hicks School of Social Work’s Texas Institute for Excellence in Mental Health (TIEMH). Funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, one of the goals of the SSW-MHTTC is to expand our educational system’s capacity to deliver effective, evidence-based mental health supports to students within the school setting. This will be accomplished by working with education leaders to offer needs assessments, resource development, information dissemination, workforce development and technical training. Michelle and TIEMH Director Molly Lopez, Ph.D., will be collaborating with state leaders in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas to target areas within their states that have the greatest need for school-based support services and offer resources tailored to meet those needs.
Evidence-based mental health interventions and promotion, resource development, organizational development, interagency collaboration, interventions that foster safe communities.
