Liz’s professional career has been dedicated to advancement of excellence in social work continuing education. Liz received a BA in Psychology and her MSSW from UT Austin, and worked in direct practice with children, youth and families. She served as the Director of Professional Development for the UT Austin’s Steve Hicks School of Social Work from 2000 2022, founding the school’s Office of Professional Development. Over these years, the office grew to hosting multiple conferences, workshops, and certification courses, in person and virtually, for social work and other human service professionals. In her previous position, as Director of the non-profit organization Regional Network for Children, from 1992 – 2000, she facilitated annual conferences for human service professionals working with children and youth in out-of-home care, and alsoserved on boards and committees assisting with training conferences since the 1970s. In her role as CE Director at the SHS, she extended her reach nationally, taking an active role with the national social work Continuing Education Network (CENET) associated with CSWE, and serving as co-chair of the CENET group from 2005 – 2019. Liz lives in Austin, Texas and is enjoying her retirement with friends and family, including her children and three grandchildren.
