Kaitlyn Doerge is a research coordinator with the Texas Institute for Child and Family Wellbeing at The University of Texas at Austin. She is passionate about child maltreatment prevention and improving outcomes for children and families involved with the child welfare system. Kaitlyn began her career working directly with youth aging out of foster care and teens who were pregnant or parenting at LifeWorks.
Before transitioning to her research role, Kaitlyn completed the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health Policy Fellowship Program, working on state and federal policy related to mental health and child welfare with the Texas Pediatric Society. Kaitlyn graduated in 2012 from St. Edward’s University with her Bachelor of the Arts in Social Work with a minor in Spanish language. She obtained her Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin in 2015. Between undergraduate and graduate school, Kaitlyn volunteered in a non-institutional community for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
