Margaret Bassett

Lecturer

Margaret Bassett, LPC-S, teaches Contemporary Issues in Domestic Violence at the School of Social Work. She is also the director of the Expert Witness Programs at the Institute on Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault (IDVSA).

Margaret has worked in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault for more than 25 years. She has served as a victim witness counselor in Travis County with victims of intimate partner violence felony crimes, and as a counselor and manager in various shelters. She has worked with at-risk youth and families, provided emergency triage and assessment of adults in psychiatric distress, and has served in the Dominican Republic as a Peace Corp volunteer.
