Embracing Feminism: The Case for Civic Engagement
Wendy Davis will discuss the importance of feminism within our current political climate to accomplish political, social and economic equality for all. She will encourage young people to engage in advocacy, activism and policy efforts to take action.
As a former Texas state senator and candidate for governor, and the founder of the advocacy initiative Deeds Not Words, Davis has a legacy of fighting for all Texans to realize their potential through through affordable quality education, employment and healthcare.
This talk is presented by the Dean Jack Otis Social Problem and Social Policy Lecture.

What are the public parking options for the event?
There is limited free parking by the LBJ Auditorium, in lots 38 and 40 along Red River Street. There are paid parking meters along Dean Keeton Street and Red River Street. Paid garage parking is available in the San Jacinto garage and Manor garage. Handicapped parking spaces are available in lots 38 and 40, as well as in both parking garages.
I registered online. Do I have to bring my ticket to the event?
Yes, due to limited seating you must present a ticket, printed or electronic, to be admitted to the auditorium.
Is there reserved seating for ticket-holders?
No. Once admitted to the auditorium, seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please arrive early to ensure time for parking and making your way to the auditorium. Doors will open at 6:00 pm. Unclaimed seats will be released at 6:55 pm.
I claimed my ticket but my plans changed and I can’t come. Can I transfer my ticket?
Tickets are not transferable. If you can’t come, please cancel your ticket through EventBrite so that we can release it to people in the waitlist.
I tried to register through the link above but the message said I was placed on a waitlist. What does this mean?
After reaching capacity we opened a waitlist. As we get closer to the event, if and when tickets become available, they will be released to the waitlist and you will receive instructions on how to claim one vial email.
The day of the event has come and I don’t have a ticket. Can I show up anyway?
Yes. There will a stand-by line for non-ticket holders. Unclaimed auditorium seats will be released on a first-come, first-served basis at 6:55 pm.
