Austin Mayor Lee Leffingwell has proclaimed February 20th, 2013, as Texas School Social Work Day, in a welcoming gesture to the more than 500 attendees to the 22nd Annual Texas School Social Work Conference, “Empowering Student Success,” to be held February 20th-22th at the Double Tree Hotel.
The Conference, organized by the School’s Office of Professional Development, is designed to provide school-based social service providers with a wide array of effective techniques, strategies, and tools to empower students, parents, and school personnel.
In the proclamation (PDF), Mayor Leffingwell emphasizes “the fine work that school social workers do on behalf of children and families” in Texas, and extends best wishes that all attendees “enjoy a productive and educational exchange.”
