Adjunct Assistant Professor
Johanna Creswell Báez, Ph.D., is a lecturer at Steve Hicks School of Social Work and is an adjunct professor at University of Nebraska Omaha Grace Abbott School of Social Work. Johanna co-founded the non-profit branch, Wediko Children’s Services New York, in New York City and currently works as their research and grants manager from a distance. In her work with Wediko New York, she does grant writing, oversees a multi-site program evaluation assessing social and emotional learning and the intersection trauma with inner-city students, provides weekly distance clinical supervision, and is a part of the senior administration team in directing program decisions.
Johanna earned her master’s from Columbia University in New York City. In 2015, she earned her PhD in clinical social work from Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She has over fifteen years of experience working with emotionally challenged youth and their families providing direct clinical services in residential settings, within New York City public schools, and in private practice. For the past five years, Johanna has also supported programming as an administrator and supervisor. Johanna has experience in program development, advocacy, staff training, grant writing, and program evaluation with a specialization in mixed methods research.
